This interview is with Matthew Griffin, the founder of Kennedy and Crowe sock company.
What is your company and what is its main goal?
Kennedy & Crowe is an Atlanta based, e-commerce retailer of specialty men’s socks founded in 2018. K&C was founded to promote two key principles, style and sustainability. Our socks are unique because they are crafted from bamboo fiber, an eco-friendly and sustainable alternative to traditional cotton. K&C values style, comfort, and sustainability.
As a company, we see the importance of promoting a socially responsible business environment. It is our mission to provide stylish socks that are also sustainable socks to our customers.
When did you start your business and why?
The founder and CEO, Matthew Griffin was born and raised in Macon, Ga. He was inspired to start our company to create a sock that was both stylish and sustainable.
Our name comes from two of his family’s names. His great-grandmother’s maiden name was Kennedy and Crowe is the maiden name of a family friend. Griffin said when he put the two together, “it just worked.”
We launched our first pre-order campaign in the spring of 2019, where we offered 3 exclusive styles. K&C plans to offer 15 additional styles in the summer of 2019. These styles will vary from colorful and playful designs including dots, stripes and argyle to more conservative and elegant designs.
What makes you different from your competition?
At Kennedy and Crowe, we differentiate ourselves through of values of style, comfort, and sustainability. As a company, we differentiate ourselves by our use of an alternative fiber, like bamboo, our use compostable packaging and recycled paper. It is our mission to provide stylish socks that are also sustainable socks to our customers.
What marketing channels do you use for your growth?
Since opening, K&C has emphasized the key role that an active online presence will play in the success of our company. That is why you can find regular updates on our social media profiles. At K&C, we plan to continue to grow our brand through social media marketing and social media influencers.
What are you expected to grow in terms of revenue in the next 12 months?
In the next month, Kennedy and Crowe will be rolling out 12 new designs for pre-order only. These designs will feature our conservative, stripes, argyle and our charity collection feature. We are exploring new avenues of advertising along with some sponsorship opportunities as well as some article features.
In the next 12 months, we expect to do just shy of over $1,000,000 in revenue. We get this number from the trend in our online sales as well as our expansion into retail locations.
